Vendor Feature: Wanderlust Creatives

We are really excited about this blog post because we get to highlight one of our favorite vendors, Wanderlust Creatives! They answered a few questions about being a photo duo and working with our band.

Tell us a little about yourselves!
We are Jei and Gaile of Wanderlust Creatives, a wedding and portrait photography duo based in Los Angeles, CA!

What is your favorite thing about working in weddings?
Jei: It is always a heartfelt, happy event where people–whether it’s just the couple and their officiant or a huge group of family and friends–come together to celebrate love; literally, so much happiness in our ‘workplace’! Gaile: That plus the aesthetics and collaboration, too. As creatives, it’s so nice to see a couple’s style and personality curated into pretty much installation art by them and their wedding vendor team. Every wedding is an experience in itself and we love the challenge of being able to document it.

Can you share a memory about working with Lucky Devils Band?
Gaile: Cocktail hour is always such a tricky in-between moment in weddings but I remember working with Lucky Devils Band in one wedding where the crowd was already ready to have a fun night while listening to the band, even before the reception!
Jei: I really enjoyed documenting the band’s promo photos because I got to experience the immense talent of each member and the band as a whole first hand. Gaile and I come from a performing arts background as well, so we understand how important it is to have a good mix of professionalism and just overall good vibes when performing as musicians. If they can have fun and hype up a photoshoot, what more a wedding crowd!

What is your most memorable experience as wedding photographers?
Gaile: I got to photograph an intimate wedding within St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican in the summer of 2018. It was an overwhelming experience, to say the least; I didn’t even know that was possible! Looking back, I think it was memorable because that’s the first time I photographed a destination wedding by myself and, of all places, it happened at one of the most stunning ancient structures ever built.
Jei: Traveling for work is always memorable, albeit tiring. It’s fortunately and unfortunately all part of the job, hence Wanderlust Creatives! I remember a time where I had to travel to about 5 different states in the US– Hawaii, Colorado, Nevada, Minnesota, and back to California–all within 2 weeks for shoots and weddings; sometimes, staying for only 24 hours or so. That’s why photographing weddings and people in and around Los Angeles, our home and beloved city, is always a treat.
